SHAWN PATTERSON

Shawn Patterson is an experienced entrepreneur and investor.

Shawn was most recently the Chief Financial Officer and co-founder for an energy storage power developer. He was also a Partner at Atreides Capital, an independent sponsor focusing on investments in the distribution, manufacturing, and environmental industries. As an independent sponsor, Shawn took on executive roles within portfolio companies to help drive revenue growth and profit improvement strategies. He served as Controlled Recovery’s Executive Vice President with responsibility for operations, geographic expansion, sales and marketing, and the development of its accounting and CRM systems. During his involvement, EBITDA at Controlled Recovery grew 5 times in 3 years. The Controlled Recovery transaction was named M&A Advisors’ Professional Services Deal of the Year for 2011.

 

In 2006, he led the acquisition of Countryside Foods, LLC, a $165 million regional grocery distributor, from its former parent. He was responsible for due diligence, debt, and equity sourcing, supplier negotiations, and IT transition services management. He helped drive a doubling of EBITDA within one year by developing a profit improvement program with the support of an innovative activity-based costing software. From 2005 to 2010, he also led numerous financial consulting and business development projects for entrepreneurial companies seeking to raise capital or position themselves for a liquidity event.

 

In 2000, Shawn co-founded Vector ESP, a national IT services firm. At Vector ESP, he served as Vice President of Corporate Development and was responsible for external growth strategies and completed eight acquisitions. He also worked at Harris, Webb & Garrison, a Houston-based regional investment bank where, in addition to his Corporate Finance and Private Placement responsibilities, he was a technology and financial services research analyst. He worked at HWG Capital, a merchant bank, on IGI/Earth Color, a consolidation of companies in the commercial graphics industry which resulted in the creation of the 25th largest commercial printing firm in the U.S. Shawn earned a BS from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
